Let's Talk Fear

Let’s talk about fear. What happens, and why do we feel that wretched emotion that can totally overcome our physical, mental, and spiritual solid ground? What do we worry so much about? Change? A flux in “our plans?” Maybe we need to embrace that stomach in the throat emotion a bit more. Maybe, just perhaps could God have created this emotion to grow us, to push us into trusting Him in a much greater capacity?

I’m not sure about you, but anxiety can wreak havoc on my being. Every ounce of me can and will surrender to that fear emotion. My well-being isn’t so well, and I’m not the woman God REALLY created me to be. But of late I have noticed that if I breathe in more faith than fear, I’m more inclined to trust. Now this takes some work on our parts. It takes stopping (which in my opinion no one seems to do in our world); it takes recognizing that fear, saying ”ok God, here I am. Here is my fear. Please carry it for me, and I’m going to breathe in your truths. I am going to trust as you have asked me to do.” Easier said than done, huh?

But my next question, what do we have to lose by breathing in and living on more faith than fear? The way I see it, we have nothing to lose. Try it. And if it doesn’t work the first time, try it over and over and over again. I’m 33 years old presently and JUST NOW learning the art of true faith and trusting. Because I will tell you this, if God is allowing something to happen in your life that has brought upon fear, He will use it to bring Him glory. He is a God of good so why wouldn’t we trust that He wants good for us? Precisely! So let’s all breathe out that fear. Just get those quick rapid breaths of anxiety out of your lungs and pause. Breathe in so much faith, and let me tell ya', it’ll be BIG breaths because He has given us so much to take in. He has shown Himself to us countless times, and I know you have a deep desire to trust Him... you wouldn’t be reading this if you didn’t. So when fear mounts itself and tries to push you down and over, stop! Put out that hand, palm facing outward, and say “no.” Breathe out those anxious breaths, and breathe in at least 5 large faith-filled breaths.

Honestly, sit back and think, can you further break by trusting the one true God of the entire universe? The God that set the stars, the planets, the grass… all of that in motion. A masterfully crafted God that cares so deeply won’t break us further. Not if what we fear is sent by Him.

The worst can be over after those deep faith-filled breaths. Because that unknown IS the worst. So what if we embraced that unknown and became more familiar with a life that is full of more unknowns?

"do not worry about your life... Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?" Matthew 6:25a & 27
